Orange Avenue closed at Virginia Drive for the week

The City of Orlando has closed the intersection of Orange Avenue and Virginia Drive in Ivanhoe Village for approximately five days, starting Monday, March 23, for some unscheduled repair work.

The news was first shared by Ivanhoe Village Main Street (Facebook | Website) on social media early Sunday morning. The work is expected to take five days, weather permitting, during which “no thru traffic” signs shave been placed at key intersections. Businesses are still accessible for local access, but traffic will not be able to continue through the intersection by Gaston Edward’s Park, where the work is being performed, in front of Gnarly Barley (Instagram).

Local shop Maffrey’s Good Goods (Instagram) took to social media to share their frustration with the years-long work being carried out on the corridor, with the following statement: “Another stellar job of Orlando City Planning shuttling down Ivanhoe Village. Nothing says ‘accessible’ like zero roads leading to it. Brilliant. Zero heads up. Zero overnight work. Our business will be open, and if you happen to know how to teleport yourself, we’d love to see you.”

North and Southbound traffic is currently being directed along Alden Road and Mills Avenue during the project.
