Enzian Theater (Website) is marking 20 years of “Monster House” with a free outdoor screening in Winter Park’s Central Park on Thursday, October 8, at 8 p.m. The showing is part of Popcorn Flicks in the Park, Enzian’s monthly free film series run in partnership with the City of Winter Park, and is part of the larger “13+ Films of Halloween” lineup.
Directed by Gil Kenan and produced by Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg, the 2006 animated film follows 12-year-old DJ, who becomes convinced the house across the street is alive. Which it is, and with Halloween approaching, it starts devouring anything that gets too close. DJ and his friends Chowder and Jenny race to uncover the truth before trick-or-treaters become its next victims, and in the mix, find out what a uvula is.
