Enzian Theater (Website) has announced its 2026 lineup for 13+ Films of Halloween, which happens to be one of its biggest seasonal events of the year, running the entire month of October with more than 13 films spanning nearly a century of horror, along with its annual Kids Halloween Party and Eden Bar’s adults-only Halloween party.
“This year’s lineup reflects such an incredible breadth of what makes horror films so universal,” Enzian Programming Manager Tim Anderson said, pointing to a pair of tributes to the late Sam Neill, a new 4K restoration of the Japanese classic “Kwaidan,” and the woefully underseen Italian slasher touchstone “A Bay of Blood,” a film whose fingerprints show up in both “Friday the 13th” and this year’s “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.”
Two films this year double as a tribute to Sam Neill, whose performance in “Possession” was recently named the actor’s career-best by The Guardian. The 1981 film returns in a new 4K restoration for its 45th anniversary on October 3, with Neill starring opposite Isabelle Adjani. Neill’s 1994 turn in John Carpenter’s “In the Mouth of Madness,” which closes out Carpenter’s “Apocalypse Trilogy,” screens October 20 on 35mm.
Masaki Kobayashi’s “Kwaidan,” the 1964 anthology film that won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes and earned an Academy Award nomination, screens October 10 in a new 4K restoration presenting the full three-hour Japanese cut, followed by an Enzian Film Club discussion led by Dr. Milt Moise of Rollins College. Mario Bava’s “A Bay of Blood,” the 1971 Italian giallo credited with laying the groundwork for the slasher genre, gets its own 4K restoration for its 55th anniversary on October 24. Michael Mann’s “Manhunter” also returns October 17 in its Final Cut, presented in a new 4K restoration as part of the Book to Big Screen series, again with Dr. Moise discussing Thomas Harris’s source novel.
On October 25, Enzian partners with the Central Florida Composers Forum for “Nosferatu: Shadows and Sound,” a live performance of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent classic featuring a new original score composed by 14 members of the Forum and performed live by the Fernwood String Quartet.
Enzian’s 35mm print series brings three cult favorites to celluloid this year: “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2” on October 6, marking its 40th anniversary, “Resident Evil” on October 13, and “Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn” on October 27.
Free Wednesday Night Picture Shows on the Enzian lawn include “Scooby-Doo” (2002) on October 7, “The Covenant” on October 14 for its 20th anniversary, and “Corpse Bride” on October 21. The series wraps up October 28 with a secret screening Anderson is keeping under wraps, only confirming it marks the 40th anniversary of a childhood favorite starring “a famous witch who has visited Enzian and a beloved icon who sadly never did.” A fourth free outdoor screening, “Monster House,” plays October 8 in Central Park on Park Avenue as part of Popcorn Flicks in the Park, presented with the City of Winter Park and sponsored by Commerce Bank + Trust, marking the film’s 20th anniversary.
Midnight Movies round out the late-night lineup with “Possession” on October 3, “Frankenhooker” on October 10, “The Faculty” in a new 4K restoration on October 17, and “Halloween II” (1981) for its 45th anniversary on October 31. Darren Lynn Bousman’s “Repo! The Genetic Opera” screens October 12 as part of Music Mondays, doubling as a tribute to star Anthony Stewart Head.
Eden Bar is once again pairing the film series with themed drinks, the 13 Cocktails of Halloween, including the Doppelgänger for “Possession,” Chop Top’s Old Fashioned for “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2,” and the Zydrate for “Repo! The Genetic Opera.”
New this year, moviegoers can pick up a 13+ Films and Cocktails of Halloween punch card at the Enzian Box Office starting October 1, earning a punch for every 13+ Films screening attended, with bonus punches for Eden Bar’s Halloween cocktail orders. Completed cards are entered into a drawing for a $100 bar tab or an annual Enzian membership, with cards available first-come, first-served in limited supply.
