The 18th Annual Winter Park Paint Out runs April 19-25 at the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens (Website) in Winter Park, and is one of the oldest plein air festivals in Florida.
Twenty-three professionally acclaimed artists will spend the week painting on-site in the Polasek’s sculpture gardens and at locations throughout Winter Park and Orlando. As each painting is completed, it goes straight into the museum’s wet room for display, where people can swoop in and purchase it. Meaning you can walk in on a Tuesday afternoon and buy a painting that was made that morning in the garden outside.
The event is free and open to the public all week. Hours vary by day: Sunday, April 19, from 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to noon.
On Wednesday, April 22, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., there will be a Paint-In on Park Avenue event where artists are invited to set up their easels along Park Avenue in front of participating businesses, turning the street into an open-air studio. Participating merchants will offer wine and appetizers, and the whole thing is free to stroll through. Free painting demonstrations also take place at the Polasek throughout the week.
The Polasek Museum sits at 633 Osceola Avenue [GMap] on Lake Osceola in Winter Park, on the grounds of the former home and studio of Czech-American sculptor Albin Polasek.
