Our “Neighborhood Watch” series features photos and tips provided by our readers. If you see something, say something, and send us an email at News@OrlandoShine.com so we can look into it and maybe even write a story like this one.
At the time of this post, the Orlando Fire Department is currently on the scene of a two-alarm “fire “structure fire” at Hawker’s (Website) restaurant at 1103 N. Mills Avenue [GMap] in the Mills 50 District. Orlando Shine photographer Cole Ditzel just happened to be biking by the scene and sent us some shots from his cellphone.
According to Jesse Canales, the Public Information Manager for the City of Orlando Fire Department, first responders arrived in response to a reported kitchen fire that had spread into the walls, saying, “The fire was out prior to crews’ arrival, and they’re now doing overhaul. A part of Mills Avenue was closed temporarily, but the scene should be clearing shortly.”
The local store shared that they are closed for the day. We’ve reached out to Hawker’s management to see if this will affect the operations of the restaurant, and if so, for how long. We will update this post once they respond.
