Shantell’s Just Until Restaurant and Lounge (Website), a longtime soul food restaurant in downtown Sanford, closed Friday after years of service. Owner and chef Shantell Williams announced the closure in a Facebook post but teased an upcoming collaboration.
“This isn’t goodbye… ” It’s the beginning of a new collaboration and a new chapter,” the post read. “Stay tuned to see what’s coming next.”
Williams was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash during Bike Week in Daytona Beach in March. Doctors placed plates and rods throughout her body, and she was unable to put weight on her legs for about eight weeks, according to earlier posts.
“I think the doctor said about six weeks for each broken bone,” Muhammed told News 6 at the time.
Williams hosted a “Welcome Home Party” on Saturday at Blend & Barrel Cigar Bar in Sanford.
“After everything I’ve been through these past months, there’s no better feeling than coming home surrounded by love, community, and good vibes,” Williams wrote.
