The 25th Annual Mount Dora Taste took place last night in Sunset Park downtown, and it was packed, with guests working their way through 25 participating businesses serving sample-sized dishes and drinks, and competing in several categories for Best Of.
Here’s how the winners broke down:
People’s Choice Awards Lakeside Inn Mount Dora took Best Entrée with their Pork Belly with Bourbon Peach Glaze and Key Lime Chipotle Aioli. The Troff won Best Appetizer for their Cajun Grilled Oysters. KKÔ Chocolate claimed Best Dessert with a Mango Petite Gateau. Eden Abbey Brewing Community’s Belgian Strawberry Blonde Ale won Best Beer, and Fiesta Grande Mexican Restaurant’s Pineapple-Jalapeño Margarita took Best Cocktail.
Media Choice Awards Mavis’ Jerk Shack won Best Entrée for their Baked Mac n Cheese with Jerk Chicken and Curry Chickpeas, which we totally agreed with. Beirut Bites won both Best Appetizer for their Hummus and Pita (so much tahini – delicious) and Best Dessert through their sister brand Sweet Bites by Beirut Bites, with Dubai chocolate-covered strawberries. Eden Abbey swept Best Beer in both categories with their Belgian Strawberry Blonde Ale. Maw’s Mountain Moonshine took Media Choice Best Cocktail for their One in a Blue Moon Piña Colada.
Congratulations to this year’s winners, and thank you to the Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce (Website) for inviting us to participate as Media judges. It was a hard and lovely job.
