Results are in from Winter Park’s budget survey

Back in February, we told you about Winter Park’s community survey, which asked residents to weigh in on city priorities ahead of the FY 2026–2027 budget process. Now the results are in.

A total of 819 residents responded, and the City Commission held a Strategic Priority Work Session in April to review the feedback and shape this year’s budget direction. Five priorities rose to the top:

  1. parking
  2. roads and traffic
  3. communication
  4. maintaining facilities and amenities
  5. pedestrian safety and micromobility.

The full survey results are available HERE, and the April 29 meeting minutes are available on the city’s website.

On the budget side, the current General Fund sits at approximately $90 million, with just over 40% going to public safety — police and fire. Property taxes are the primary revenue source, with roughly one quarter of each property tax dollar going to the city, about 30% to Orange County, and just over 40% to the school system.

City staff is now preparing a draft budget to be presented at the first Commission meeting in July, kicking off a three-month public input period before the final budget is adopted at the end of September.
