Harry P. Leu Gardens (Facebook | Website) is marking its 65th anniversary with a couple of months’ worth of celebration called Legacy in Bloom, and this Saturday, March 7, will feature free admission all day. The free day kicks off a stretch of special programming running through May 31.
On Saturday, visitors can explore a new historical exhibit in the Welcome Center tracing the Gardens from its origins as an agricultural farm to the 50-acre botanical destination it is today. Outdoor “portal” installations along the pathways expand on the region’s citrus and agricultural heritage. Complimentary longleaf pine seedlings will be given out while supplies last.
The anniversary calendar includes the annual Plant Sale on March 14 and 15, free admission for teachers on March 21, Art Day on March 28, a Movie Night screening of Superman on April 3, free admission for seniors 60-plus on April 4, a Jazz and Blues Concert on April 11, Flower Day on April 18, and free admission for first responders on April 24.
Harry P. Leu Gardens is at 1920 N. Forest Avenue [GMap] in Orlando. Regular admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18.
