More than a dozen Central Florida’s top chefs will gather at Osteria Ester (Website) in Thornton Park on Monday, October 19, for Chefs for Change, the first-ever fundraiser benefiting Get Cooking (Website), a nonprofit that teaches families how to cook healthy meals on a budget.
Get Cooking teaches Central Florida families in need how to prepare healthy dinners for under $20. The organization is led by founder Stacie Archer and Chef Norman Van Aken, alongside a team of award-winning Orlando chefs who teach virtual monthly cooking classes, with meal kits for each recipe provided to participating families.
The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. and is limited to 100 tickets. Guests can expect chefs stationed throughout the restaurant preparing food, live music, and a live auction of high-end dining experiences. The chef lineup includes Michael Cooper of Osteria Ester and The Osprey, Wendy Lopez of Reyes Mezcaleria and Sparrow, Huy Tin of Seito, Nikk Burton of The Monroe, Michael Tiva of Prato, Marly Matos of Gnarly Cuban, Rabii Saber of Four Seasons Resort, Stephen Ullrich of Conrad Hotels Orlando, and Derek Perez and Jenny Deutsch of 4 Rivers Smokehouse.
The evening’s live auction, hosted by Chef Norman Van Aken and Orlando Sentinel food editor Amy Drew Thompson, will feature a slate of exclusive dining experiences. Packages include a private alfresco dinner for 10 with Chef Art Smith at Lake Meadow Naturals, a dinner for 12 in the private dining room at Norman’s Florida Kitchen hosted by James Beard Award winner Norman Van Aken, a dinner for eight in the private Brewing Room at The Ravenous Pig, two nights at Conrad Orlando Evermore with dinner at Cielo and a round of golf at Grand Cypress Golf Club, and a dinner for six in Kaya’s new private dining room with Chef Lordfer Lalicon.
