WETLANDS IMAGE VIA WALT DISNEY WORLD
Disney World’s upcoming resort on the south shore of Bay Lake has shared new details about its outdoor amenity space, called The Wetlands, as the property moves toward a summer 2027 opening.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge will sit along Bay Lake at Walt Disney World Resort and is positioned as a nature-themed property with design nods to animated films including Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear. The resort will have 967 rooms ranging from studios to suites, along with new one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses along the waterfront.
The newly revealed Wetlands recreation area will anchor the outdoor amenities with two children’s play areas — Heron Shores, a dry climbing area, and Otter Springs, an interactive water play space — both themed to Pocahontas. Lakeside Lagoon will serve as the resort’s main zero-entry pool, featuring a spiral waterslide, while Perspective Pond on the opposite side of the resort will offer a leisure pool and whirlpool spa with views of Magic Kingdom fireworks. A lazy river called Daydream River will connect the recreation area.
Guests walking through the area will find informational plaques about local flora and fauna, and Disney says one plaque will honor a historic attraction that previously occupied the site, River Country, which was the company’s original water park that operated from 1976 to 2001.
The resort will be accessible to Magic Kingdom by boat. Disney Parks Blog says additional details on dining, amenities, and design will be released in the months ahead under a running “Letters from Lakeshore” series.
