A seven-story parking garage is being proposed for Mills 50

RENDERINGS VIA CITY OF ORLANDO

Orlando’s municipal planning board will hear a proposal on June 16 for a seven-story parking garage with ground-floor retail space in the Mills 50 district, on a block that currently houses several small businesses.

The site is located at 1212 Woodward Street [GMap], just north of Colonial Drive between North Mills Avenue and Shine Avenue. The existing building, built in 2005 and currently home to Qreate Coffee + Studio, Ming’s Bistro, and a karate dojo and fitness gym, would be demolished to make way for the garage. The CVS Pharmacy on the corner of Mills and Colonial and an adjacent surface parking lot would remain untouched.

According to an in-depth report by J.C. Carnahan for Orlando Business Journal, the proposal calls for a single-phase development adding 349 parking spaces to the area, and was submitted by engineering firm Land Design (Website). The full garage would bring the block’s total to 430 spaces across the structure and existing surface lots. Ground-floor retail would include four commercial suites totaling 7,200 SF, with placeholder labels for a wellness space, gourmet grille, café, and sundries shop.

The planning board hearing is scheduled for June 16.
