Sabai Thai Street Food to host grand opening on May 18

PHOTO VIA SABAI STREET FOOD

We wrote about Sabai Thai Street Food (Instagram) back in March, HERE, when it was still ramping up to open in SoDo. Now the restaurant is hosting its official Grand Opening celebration on Monday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 3333 S. Orange Avenue [GMap].

The restaurant is family-owned and operated by Viradee Pissara, her son Chef Alex Pissara, and her husband Bill Spradlin. Viradee grew up in rural Thailand, where she learned to cook at her sister’s street food stall, including the same family recipes she’s now showcasing here in Orlando. Alex trained at Lim Ros in Maitland and Isan Zaap before joining his mother in Sabai’s kitchen. He runs the wok station while Viradee handles the soups, curries, and appetizers.

The menu highlight is the Tom Yum Noodle Soup, a house broth built from Viradee’s original street stall recipe. The rest of the menu covers Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Pad Kee Mao, handmade Isan sausage, scratch-made curries, Larb, Papaya Salad, Crab Fried Rice, and the signature Sabai Fried Rice. And nothing comes from a box.

Sabai Thai Street Food is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
