As first reported by Alex Cook for News 6, a Barry University law student was arrested this week on digital voyeurism charges after hidden cameras were discovered in the restroom behind Barnie’s Coffee & Tea (Website) on Park Avenue in Winter Park.

Nicolas Sebastian Esparza, 27, was identified by one of his law professors at Barry University from surveillance images showing him placing a hidden camera inside the restroom, according to an arrest affidavit.

Hidden cameras were discovered at the popular Winter Park coffee shop on three separate occasions: March 22, March 25, and April 28.

Investigators say one memory card contained video of 18 people inside the restroom, including men, women, and children.

Barnie’s Coffee & Tea management declined to comment, directing inquiries to law enforcement. It’s unclear if Esparza was an employee of the coffee shop or just a pervert who loved local coffee.

Winter Park police are asking anyone who believes they may have been recorded or has information about the case to contact the department immediately. Read the full News 6 report HERE.

This is one of the only public restrooms on Park Avenue and is located in the courtyard behind the cafe, where it is accessible to everyone, not just patrons of the business.
