A Japanese-style convenience store is coming to Mills Market (Website) in the Mills 50 Main Street. UniMart (Instagram), described as a Japanese-style convenience store or konbini, will take a space next to the sushi spot Okonomi (Instagram), and all while not displacing any current tenants.
The new concept is being led by Chef William Shen (Michelin), who co-founded Sorekara in Baldwin Park, currently Orlando’s only two-Michelin-starred restaurant. Shen is also behind Mills Market tenants UniGirl (Instagram), which serves made-to-order onigiri rice triangles, and Zaru (Instagram), an udon noodle shop, both of which received Michelin recognition, care of Visit Orlando.
The menu will include fried chicken, bento boxes, and sandos, the popular crustless soft white bread sandwiches in Japan. In Japan, chains like 7-Eleven are known for fresh food, clean facilities, and a range of quality products, and the parent company of 7-Eleven noted in an August 2025 earnings call that its Japan locations sell 30% more food than U.S. stores.
UniMart is one of several updates coming to Mills Market this summer. Em Fleur, a floral shop focused on modern Asian floral artistry, will also open. And Tien Hung Jewelry, a business operating in the market since 1998, will reopen under the name Karats by Kim. The store will still be run by owner Cecilia Nguyen, but is undergoing renovation with a modern redesign that nods to its history.
