Zaza Cuban Comfort Food (Instagram | Website) has acquired the former Pig Floyd’s space on Lee Road in Winter Park and plans to open a new restaurant there later this year. The announcement comes as the company is also finishing construction on a new SoDo flagship location, which is scheduled to open in June, with the Winter Park location expected to open around the same time.
CEO Luis Fernandez said via a prepared statement that the Winter Park opportunity came up unexpectedly, but the team moved quickly once they saw it. “Winter Park has always been a special community in Central Florida, and when the opportunity presented itself, we knew it was something we wanted to pursue,” he said.
Zaza is a modern Cuban comfort diner built around fresh ingredients and traditional recipes passed down through three generations, originally from Puerto Padre, Cuba. Their bread is baked fresh daily, everything is prepared to order, and the kitchens proudly don’t use microwaves. The menu includes Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, ropa vieja, vaca frita, and fresh-baked pastries.
More details on the Winter Park opening will be announced as the project moves forward.
