The Pet Alliance (Website) is opening its new Orlando shelter with a public grand opening on Saturday, March 28, at noon, following a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. The event will have a DJ, food trucks, activities, merchandise, and adoptable dogs and cats available inside, ready to meet their new humans.

The new facility at 4311 S. John Young Parkway [GMap] is 25,000 SF and named the Kylie J. Capri Campus and Edward H. Hensley Adoption Center. It replaces their previous space with a fully air-conditioned shelter for dogs and cats, double the medical space, and what Pet Alliance says is the largest shelter medical unit in Florida. The building also includes disease-specific quarantine areas, an outdoor play space, dedicated rooms for neonatal kittens, and flexible space to support other shelters during natural disasters. A vegetable and herb garden, a memorial, and a serenity area are also in the works.

Construction of the fancy new building started in November 2024, and it was built by H.J. High and designed by Borrelli + Partners. The shelter will be open daily for adoptions from noon to 6 p.m.
