Sam Flax is moving out of Colonialtown

PHOTO VIA SAM FLAX ORLANDO

Sam Flax Orlando (Website) announced this week that it’s leaving its Colonialtown location. The store broke the news on social media, saying customers should hear it from them first, and that they’re excited about what’s ahead. They’re not sharing the new address yet, but the manager confirmed with Orlando Shine that the move is indeed happening, though declined to share the reason behind the move.

According to the announcement, which you can read below, the new location will carry the full lineup: art supplies, gifts, custom picture framing services, fine writing instruments, art class programming, and free events.

This isn’t the first time Sam Flax has moved. The store previously operated further up the street at 1401 E. Colonial Drive [GMap] before landing in its current spot at 1800 E. Colonial Drive [GMap] in 2011, making this its second relocation in the area. The original location still features an art supply-inspired mural (along with a swan boat and the Orange County Courthouse building) as interpreted by local muralist Andrew Spear; one of his earliest pieces of public art, in fact.

What happens to the Colonialtown property after they leave isn’t known. The building is owned by The Bishop Group of Properties LLC, according to the Orange County Property Appraiser. We’ve reached out for comment.

Sam Flax will remain open in the meantime. Follow their social media for the new location announcement and more information on their last day in their current location.
