Pig Floyd’s owner steps away from Lee Road location, new concept announced soon

EDIT: We accidentally said this location opened in 2024, which was wrong. It first opened in 2025. We apologise for the mistake. You can read our coverage of the opening in the URL provided below.

Pig Floyd’s (Website) owner, Thomas Ward, just announced on social media that he is transitioning the Lee Road location in Winter Park to a new local operator. He later confirmed that his original concept has closed, and will be replaced by a new concept.

“Throughout this transition, our focus has been on supporting our team,” Ward said in the statement. Lee Road team members were informed of opportunities to apply for open positions at Mills Avenue locations, Pig Floyd’s, and Pigzza, saying some have already transitioned.

Ward said the transition was approached thoughtfully with care for the team and community.

Ward thanked customers for their continued support of the Mills Avenue locations. “We are grateful to the Lee Road team for the professionalism and care they brought to the restaurant, and to the guests who supported us during our time there,” Ward said.

Pig Floyd’s and Pigzza on Mills Avenue remain open and under Ward’s ownership.

The Lee Road location opened in 2025 in the former Bubbalou’s BBQ space at 1471 Lee Road [GMap], as an expansion of the popular Mills Avenue barbecue restaurant. Ward previewed the space with a soft opening before the official launch, which we posted about HERE on Instagram. The permitting process and construction took over three years to complete.

The identity of the new Lee Road concept has not been announced, and there is no official opening timeline, but Ward told Orlando Shine, “The buyer is going to announce soon!”
