Go Skate Day and Father’s Day fall on the same day this year, and the local women’s skateboarding collective Ur Mom Skates (Instagram) says they’re treating that as an invitation.
The group is co-hosting “Go Skate, Dad” with Plus Skate Shop (Website) and Redlight Redlight (Website) this Sunday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the alley behind Redlight Redlight on Corrine Drive. The event is free and open to all ages and experience levels.
- For skaters, there will be a ramp from Goat Ramp and a street course.
- For kids, there’s a bounce house, a paint-your-own-skateboard station, and a cool-down tent.
- Redlight has brewed a special Plus Skate Shop collab lager for the occasion, and Chef Emily has put together a food menu.
- Mae Tao & Son’s Kitchen, Electric Camel, and King of Pops will be on site with food, coffee, and popsicles.
Ryan Beann is doing flash tattoos, Cristina of Xtina the Hair Sage will be cutting and braiding hair, and Soft Blur will have a photo booth. Plus Skate Shop, December Skateboards, and Lawless Supply Co. will be set up as vendors, and The New Eagles and 2MC will be playing live music.
Raffles will feature giveaways from Margaritaville at Sea, December Skateboards, Delirium Brewing, Plus Skate Shop, Redlight Redlight, The Lovely Vintage Market, Duplex Skateboards, and Eat Cookie Cakes.
