Thundering Spirit Family Pow Wow comes to Renninger’s this weekend

The Thundering Spirit Family Pow Wow (Website) returns to Renninger’s Twin Markets (Website) in Mount Dora this Friday through Sunday, March 6–8. Gates open at 9 a.m. each day. Friday and Saturday run until 10 p.m.; Sunday wraps at 5 p.m. Friday is designated Children’s Day, with programming from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a Grand Entry at 7 p.m. Grand Entry ceremonies on Saturday are at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a final Sunday Grand Entry at 1 p.m.

Featured performers include Arvel Bird (Instagram), a Celtic and Native American violinist, flutist, and storyteller; Lowery Begay (Instagram), a hoop dancer; Tloke Nahuake Aztec Dancers; and Sicanni, a flute player, drummer, and actor. Ottertrail serves as the host drum, with the Gray Cloud Singers as the guest drum. Bert Cox is the emcee, and Thomas and Juanita Zermeno serve as head man and head woman dancers.

Admission is $10 for adults, $15 for a three-day pass, free for children under 12, and free for active, retired, and veteran service members. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets; seating is also available.
