Enzian Theater (Website) will screen Raiders of the Lost Ark for free at Central Park in Winter Park on Thursday, August 27, at 8 p.m., marking the film’s 45th anniversary as part of the theater’s Popcorn Flicks in the Park series.
The screening is presented in partnership with the City of Winter Park and requires no ticket. Popcorn Flicks in the Park runs once a month at Central Park and is free and open to the public, with this showing presented with open captions.
Directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1981, “Raiders of the Lost Ark” follows Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford, and Marion Ravenwood (excellent name), played by Karen Allen, as they race across the globe to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis do. The film won four Academy Awards, including Best Effects, Best Editing, Best Sound, and Best Art Direction, and was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Music at the 1982 Oscars.
