The City of Orlando wants your input on a proposed midblock crosswalk in Mills 50

The City of Orlando is hosting a public meeting on Tuesday, April 28, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Colonialtown Neighborhood Center at 1517 Lake Highland Drive, Suite 2605 [GMap], to gather feedback on a proposed pedestrian safety project on Mills Avenue.

The open-house style meeting will give residents, businesses, and community members a chance to review plans, ask questions, and speak directly with project staff so they can check off the “public input” box of their process.

The proposed improvements include a new midblock crosswalk on Mills Avenue at Canton Street, a pedestrian refuge island to support two-stage crossings, and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) to increase driver awareness in a corridor that is regularly referred to as a Life or Death Frogger Game. The intersection is the midway point between Wally’s Mills Avenue Liquors and Will’s Pub.
