The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park has announced its 92nd concert season under director Dr. John V. Sinclair, and the lineup is stacked; anchored by two major anniversaries, guest artists, and more.
The season runs from October through April, with the Festival itself taking place in February. At the center of it is Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, marking its 300th anniversary. Also in February, the BFS will recreate the music performed at Beethoven’s Ceremony of Life Service, commemorating the 200th anniversary of his passing.
The Berlioz Requiem opens the choral season in October, and the Classic Christmas concerts return in December at Knowles Memorial Chapel, which will be filmed this year for national broadcast on PBS/WUCF TV.
Guest artists include Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, guitar virtuoso Paul Galbraith, violinist Itamar Zorman performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto, pianist Byeol Kim on Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, organists Ken Cowan and Paul Jacobs, and the Balourdet Quartet (winners of the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant), fresh off debuts at Carnegie and Wigmore Halls.
The season also includes the third annual National Oratorio Competition, a week-long event of performances and masterclasses culminating in a live competition between eight rising classical vocalists.
