On Thursday, May 21, Mead Botanical Garden (Website) will host a talk on Florida’s conservation efforts as part of its Life Explorers Speaker Series, led by Mason Gravley of the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation.
The Florida Wildlife Corridor is an 18-million-acre network of connected public and private lands stretching from the Everglades to the borders of Georgia and Alabama. It links ranches, forests, springs, and wetlands into a living system that allows species like the Florida panther and Florida black bear to move more safely across the state, while also protecting drinking water and supporting working lands.
Gravley grew up in Frostproof, Florida, surrounded by swamps, orange groves, and cattle ranches, and he brings a background in general biology, marketing, and the startup world to his conservation work, and hosts the Florida Uncut (Instagram) podcast.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the program runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Azalea Lodge at Mead Botanical Garden. The event is free with coffee and snacks provided.
