Tamara Heritage restaurant coming to Church Street

Tamara Heritage (Instagram), a new Indian restaurant, is planning to open at 55 W. Church Street [GMap] in downtown Orlando, in the former home of The Rusty Spoon and Elize, as first reported by Orlando Weekly.

The concept comes from Mandy and Gagan Singh, owners of Tamara Modern Indian Cuisine near Universal Orlando and Tamara Lake Mary. Gagan Singh told Orlando Weekly the restaurant will elevate the complete dining experience, from ambience and service to the cuisine itself, aiming for a “Michelin-star caliber standard” with curated tasting and set menus. Singh said the team is working to renovate the space with plans to open before the end of the year.

The restaurant’s arrival comes as the city of Orlando and its Community Redevelopment Agency continue work on the Church Street Festival Street project, a multi-phase redesign stretching from Garland Avenue to Magnolia Avenue. The first phase, now under construction, will bring a curbless roadway, more flexible pedestrian space, landscaping areas, and designated loading zones, with later phases adding benches, planters, movable furniture, and other traffic-calming improvements. The full project is expected to be completed in 2028.
