Pet Alliance (Website) has named Dr. Josh Fisher (LinkedIn) as its new Chief Executive Officer. Fisher began the role on August 10, bringing more than 20 years of experience in veterinary medicine, animal welfare, and executive leadership with him.
Fisher most recently served as Animal Services Director for the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, where he oversaw one of the region’s largest animal services organizations. He has also worked in private practice, corporate veterinary medicine, and at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine.
He succeeds Stephen Bardy, who led Pet Alliance for the past decade.
“After an extensive national search, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Josh Fisher as Pet Alliance’s new Chief Executive Officer,” said Taylor Strickland, chair of the Pet Alliance Board of Directors, according to the official press release. “Josh is a respected and compassionate leader whose vision, experience, and deep commitment to animal welfare make him exceptionally well suited to lead Pet Alliance into its next chapter.”
Fisher’s background includes public health and safety, strategic planning, and shelter intake and placement strategies. He described his approach as “helping both ends of the leash,” focused on solutions that support animals as well as the people and staff who care for them.
“I am honored to join Pet Alliance and become part of an organization that has earned the trust and support of the Central Florida community for nearly 90 years,” Fisher said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to build on Pet Alliance’s incredible legacy.”
Fisher serves as a board member of the National Animal Care & Control Association and sits on the Managing Executive Committee for the Human Animal Support Services Project. He is also an assistant professor with the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and holds certifications including Certified Animal Welfare Administrator, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and Certified Change Management Professional.
