As first reported by Matt Palm for Orlando Sentinel, the Renaissance Theatre Company (Website) has secured a short-term lease to operate out of the former city-sponsored ArtSpace/Mad Cow space previously occupied by the Orlando Fringe Festival on Church Street in downtown Orlando.
The move follows the city’s decision to condemn Renaissance’s building in Ivanhoe Village for safety reasons this past September, which has forced the company to find a new home, at least temporarily.
Under the lease agreement, Renaissance will use the space to continue staging performances, workshops, and community events until construction on their warehouse is complete sometime in 2026. Theater leadership described the arrangement as a “lifeline,” designed to keep programs going while they seek a permanent location.
While the downtown lease is temporary, Renaissance spokespeople say they intend to re-evaluate their long-term home once the season ends. In the meantime, patrons are encouraged to check the theater’s website for updated show times and venue information.
Upcoming shows include The Office Holiday Party Musical Extravaganza Show on December 5 and Mean Girls in January 2026.
