IMMERSE (Website) returned to downtown Orlando for a three-day takeover on February 20 through February 22, featuring a massive lineup of free public performances and interactive installations across roughly 10 downtown blocks, with the main nighttime footprint centered on Orange Avenue and a Sunday firework finale at Lake Eola.
The festival’s featured, big-stage draws included Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil’s Drawn to Life, MESH, Orlando Vocal Collective, and Central Florida Community Arts, alongside a long list of local and regional performers and organizations staged throughout the weekend. The event also featured-stage companies like 4Zero Entertainment, Asian Cultural Association, FIERCE Dance Company, Genesis Dance Kru, Kalena’s Polynesian Ohana, Mexico Lindo-Folkloric Ballet Orlando, Phantasmagoria, RPD Dance Company, and theSQUAD, and more.
A signature large-scale installation this year was Architects of Air, returning with a new luminarium experience that featured a walk-through, immersive maze of illuminated and inflated architecture straight from France. Check out our preview video in case you missed it.
Organizers haven’t shared an official final headcount yet, but early projections were expecting over 100,000 people. If you missed out, be sure to look at these photos taken by the super-talented Dallas Ward of Wo.Visuals (Instagram | Website) below.
