WELL #3 POCKET PARK PHOTO VIA IVANHOE VILLAGE MAIN STREET
The Ivanhoe Village District (Website) is seeking Central Florida artists to design a new three-panel art series for the new Well #3 Pocket Park, located at 633 Virginia Drive [GMap].
The district is looking for proposals to transform three hexagon-shaped aluminum panels, each roughly 36 inches wide by 31 inches high, that will be mounted to the rear fence of the pocket park. The panels are visible to both passing pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and the district is looking for a cohesive series that “celebrates the spirit of Ivanhoe Village while adding a sense of discovery to the park.”
Painting is the only accepted medium, using exterior-grade acrylic latex paint. Artwork must be original, never previously displayed or published, and suitable for all ages. So no nudes unless they’re ramen. It may not include religious references, political messaging, copyrighted content, or corporate branding. Artists may include a signature no larger than 3 by 5 inches on each panel. Which is a totally average size.
The opportunity is open to individual artists and artist teams age 18 or older who live or work in the Central Florida region. Each artist or team is allowed to submit up to three design proposals.
Selected artists will receive a $500 honorarium covering all fees, materials, and labor, paid half at the project’s start and half upon completion. The district will supply each panel already primed with a base coat, but artists are responsible for all other materials.
Applications are due by noon on August 10, and must be emailed to director@ivanhoevillage.org with the subject line “IVD Art Panel Submission.” Complete submissions require an application form, a liability waiver, a short bio or resume, samples of past work, a description of the proposed artwork, and design proposals submitted on the district’s provided template.
Selected artists will be announced August 21, with painting expected to take place between September and October and the finished panels completed by November.
