Orlando City SC (Website) came away with a point on the road Sunday, drawing 1-1 with the Columbus Crew at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field. And at this point, we’ll take it.
Marco Pašalić opened the scoring in the 14th minute, finishing a pass that started with Iván Angulo playing Tiago into the box and Tiago squaring it to Pašalić for a first-touch finish, making this his second goal of the season and 17th across all competitions. Tiago picked up his first assist as a Lion on the play. Angulo’s assist was his fourth of the year and 35th all-time, putting him third in club history in that category.
Robin Jansson made his first (quick) appearance of the 2026 season on Sunday, returning to the starting XI after missing time with a foot injury. Perelman confirmed his early substitution was planned in advance, noting that Jansson wasn’t ready to complete a full 90 minutes after such a long stretch of inactivity. It was a welcome sight for Orlando City fans, nonetheless.
Midfielders Wilder Cartagena and Joran Gerbet and forward Duncan McGuire all missed the match through injury.
“I think we came to a difficult stadium and we fought, and the players did an amazing effort,” Perelman said. “We wanted to win, like always, but again, I want to highlight the effort of the players.”
Pašalić shared, “We hadn’t conceded a goal for 80 minutes, then we made the changes, and that mistake happened, but it’s football,” he said. “I’m happy that the team showed mentality today, that we showed that we can handle things after these big losses.”
Orlando City (1-5-1, 4 points) now heads south for a U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 match against USL League One’s FC Naples at Paradise Coast Sports Complex in Naples on Wednesday, April 15. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
