Orange County’s Fort Christmas is hosting overnight pioneer camps for kids this summer

Fort Christmas Historical Park (Website) is running its Frontier Experience overnight camp throughout June and July, and it’s one of the more unique summer programs in Central Florida.

Kids who have completed 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade can spend a night inside a full-scale replica of Fort Christmas, the historic fort built in the late 1970s on the site where U.S. Army soldiers constructed the original fort on Christmas Day, 1837. During the experience, campers cook a meal over a real campfire, explore the outdoors, play old-fashioned games, and make hands-on crafts. Then they sleep inside the fort walls, just like Florida pioneers once did.

The camp runs as separate sessions for boys and girls. Boys’ sessions are June 5–6, June 19–20, July 10–11, and July 24–25. Girls’ sessions are June 12–13, June 26–27, July 17–18, and July 31–August 1. Drop-off is Friday at 7:30 a.m., and pick-up is by Saturday at 9 a.m.

Cost is $50 per child per session. Fort Christmas Historical Park is located at 1300 N. Fort Christmas Road [GMap] in Christmas, FL. Register by calling 407-254-9310 or by clicking HERE.
