The Orange Audubon Society (Facebook | Website) will host a community pollinator count at the entry garden of Apopka Birding Park on Saturday, August 22, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Participants can drop in anytime during the two-hour window, just past the park’s yellow gate, and count pollinators visiting a single plant for 15 minutes. The count is part of a multi-state community science project studying regional pollinator populations.
All ages are welcome, and no experience is necessary. Registration is not required.
Volunteers may spot a range of pollinators typical of Central Florida gardens in late summer, including honeybees, native bees, wasps, and butterflies like monarchs, sulphurs, swallowtails, and Gulf fritillaries, or maybe even an occasional hummingbird.
