Nosferatu returns to Renaissance Theatre Company for its fifth season this fall

Renaissance Theatre Company (Website) brings back Nosferatu: The Citadel, its immersive vampire experience for adults (because it’s really sexy), running weekends from August 28 through November 7 at the theater’s home at 415 E. Princeton Street [GMap] in Ivanhoe Village.

Billed as an “adult vampire experience” rather than a haunted house, the show sends guests moving through the venue as costumed vampires perform around them, with the storyline changing each year. Guests follow one of the production’s Royals through the Citadel to witness scenes and themed spaces built around the show’s Great Convening premise, in which vampires from the eternal and mortal realms gather for one night.

The experience is strictly for guests 18 and older and includes graphic depictions of violence, sexuality, nudity and partial nudity, and almost total nudity, along with strobe lighting, fog effects, loud noises, stage blood, and leather chaps, and nudity. Renaissance Theatre Company notes the show also touches on heavier themes, including power dynamics in relationships, grief and race, and advises patrons who may be sensitive to that kind of imagery to consider whether the show is right for them. A strict all-black dress code is enforced for entry.

After the main experience, guests can continue the night at V-Bar, the production’s vampire-themed bar featuring the live band The Bloodlines and drag performances from artists including Angelica Sanchez, Orusha San Miguel, and Coco The Siren.

Tickets range from $20 to $450 depending on the package. The Full Nosferatu Experience, which includes V-Bar access, runs $60. Guests can also purchase The Wandering, a $40 ticket for open access to the experience between 8 and 10 p.m., or a $20 V-Bar-only ticket. VBooths, offering entry plus reserved seating for up to six guests in V-Bar, run $450. A limited number of $20 discounted tickets for the full experience are released at noon the day before each show, and $5 V-Bar tickets are available at the door for guests under 25 on select nights. Groups of eight or more receive 20% off when purchased in a single order.
