The Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire (Website) takes place this weekend in Tavares, bringing the sights and sounds of the 17th century to life, with short kings and sassy queens galore.
Held at 28598 Lady of the Lakes Avenue [GMap], this is the second weekend of the event, having already run November 1–2, but returning November 7–9. The Faire will feature live jousting, costumed performers, and more than 50 artisan booths selling handmade crafts, clothing, and jewelry.
Guests can enjoy traditional Ren Faire food like turkey legs and hand pastries, live music, and themed games tied to this year’s story, “Gunpowder and Treason,” inspired by the 1606 Gunpowder Plot, during which Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes succeeded in their plan of blowing up the King and every member of Parliament. Seems topical.
The faire is family-friendly and encourages visitors to dress in costume, though it’s not required. Proceeds from the event benefit the Education Foundation of Lake County, which supports local teachers and students.
