The City of Orlando is looking to hire a new Program Supervisor for its Orlando Kidz Zone (Website) operations. The role is responsible for performing administrative and supervisory work, overseeing the development and implementation of Kidz Zones in targeted Orlando neighborhoods.
Orlando Kidz Zones is the City of Orlando’s long-running initiative to improve outcomes for children and families in the city’s highest-poverty neighborhoods by building a “cradle-to-career” network of support. The program is modeled after the Harlem Children’s Zone and launched in 2006 with the Parramore Kidz Zone to address extreme child poverty and poor local school performance.
Programming includes preschool initiatives, academic tutoring, college access assistance, youth employment programs, housing stabilization programs, parenting education, and youth-focused health and wellness services.
The position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a city-led partnership of nonprofit, governmental, schools, businesses, faith-based, and neighborhood associations in the Zone, and overseeing the distribution of grant funds to partner organizations.
Applicants should have an Associate’s Degree in Education, Psychology, or Youth Development, and three years of experience in administrative management in the field.
