The Global Peace Film Festival (Website) returns to Central Florida for its 24th year, running September 15 through 27 across Winter Park and Orlando.
It was founded in 2023 to use documentary and narrative film to spark dialogue on human rights, social justice, and community healing; the festival has grown into one of the region’s more enduring cultural institutions.
This year’s fest runs September 15 through 19, with in-person screenings and events at Enzian Theater, Rollins College’s Bush Auditorium, the Winter Park Library and Regal Winter Park Village. This year also has some online programming with its Free for All Shorts, a global digital shorts showcase running September 21 through 27 that opens the programming to audiences beyond Central Florida.
New this year is Global Peace 360°, a two-day event on September 26 and 27 at AFRO TV Studios on International Drive that features filmmaker Q&As, special appearances, opportunities to connect, and more, including a live casting call for Orlando International Fashion Week.
The festival opens with “A Break in the Rain,” starring Michael O’Keefe and Elizabeth A. Davis, who are both expected to appear alongside the screening. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Marshall Curry, known for Oscar-nominated work, will present three of his films during the festival: “The New Yorker at 100,” “Street Fight,” and “A Night at the Garden.”
