Chef and restaurateur Daniel Gabor, formerly of the short-lived German restaurant, Schmankerl Stub’n in downtown Orlando, is opening Daniel Gabor’s Alpine Bar & Grill (Website) in the former Bella Tuscany space at 1568 Maguire Road [GMap] in Ocoee.
The new restaurant soft-opened on July 17, and features Gabor’s signature Alpine comfort food, including dishes like ricotta‑spinach ravioli, Riesling chicken, schnitzel, gulasch, pork tenderloin, and apple strudel, blending familiar favorites from Schmankerl with fresh German and Alpine-inspired dishes.
As they are in soft‑opening mode, the restaurant will operate Tuesday through Sunday evenings, with extended hours on weekends and a temporary 15% discount on checks while the staff becomes acclimated to the new flow.
Gabor closed his downtown concept on New Year’s Eve 2024, saying his decision to leave downtown Orlando was based on broader challenges in the downtown business environment, where rising rents, parking issues, and shifting foot traffic made operating difficult for independent restaurateurs .
