Enzian Theater (Website) screens Tim Burton’s “Mars Attacks!” free on its lawn Wednesday, August 5, at 8 p.m. as part of its Wednesday Night Pitcher Show series.
The screening marks the film’s 30th anniversary and is presented in partnership with Horrorlando Film Club.
Wednesday Night Pitcher Shows are free and open to the public, and seating on the lawn is first come, first served. A limited number of reserved picnic baskets, which include popcorn and a bucket of beer, are available for purchase through the Enzian website, though they sell out quickly. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.
The 1996 film follows a Martian invasion that begins with promises of peace and ends in Sarah Jessica Parker having her head sewn onto the body of a dog, with a cast that includes Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Jack Black, Martin Short, Pam Grier, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Michael J. Fox, Natalie Portman, and of course, Tom Jones. Warner Bros. spent nearly $100 million on the production, which flopped at the box office. The film runs 106 minutes and is rated PG-13.
