Orlando singer-songwriter Tom Haney (SoundCloud) will release the two-song single “F.I.A.T.” on Friday, October 30, on Florida Man Records, and he’s celebrating with a free release party tonight at Ten10 Brewing’s B-Side in Ivanhoe Village.
The party starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 29, at 1010 Virginia Drive [GMap]. Admission is free, with food and drinks available for purchase. The lineup includes The Wasted Miracles, American Destitution, Rachel Decker, Jason Earle, Devin & Gage, El Pintero and Haney.
The single has two tracks, both labeled explicit. “Humans” is the A-side and lead single, built on acoustic guitar, upright bass and mandolin, with what the release calls a cinematic feel. “Civil War” is the B-side, slower, with a Dobro in place of the mandolin and listens like an anthemic protest song.
Haney is an alternative rock and Americana singer-songwriter and a regular on Orlando’s Mills 50 music scene. He lists his influences as The Beatles, R.E.M., Elliott Smith, Spoon, and Mark Lanegan. He is a new signee to Florida Man Records (Website), an independent Orlando label founded this year by Adam Chadwick.
