The Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland (Website) will host its annual Baby Owl Shower on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and this year marks 40 years of the event.

Spring is the center’s busiest season for raptor (not velociraptor) rehabilitation, sometimes caring for more than 100 young birds in May alone, which triples bird care costs. Math. The Baby Owl Shower exists to raise funds and awareness around that crunch time.

Admission is free with a donation item from the center’s wishlist, which is available HERE, or a monetary donation through the center’s ticketing page. The day includes crafts, games, a raffle, and visits with the ambassador birds. New this year, Ono Hot Dog Cart (Website) will be on site with food for purchase.

Community partners joining the event include Trout Lake Nature Center, Maitland Public Library, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Orlando Science Center, Orange County Libraries’ Eatonville Branch, Orange Audubon, and Winter Park Veterinary Hospital.

Overflow parking is available at St. Lawrence AME Church, at 549 E. Kennedy Boulevard [GMap] in Eatonville.
