Visit Orlando is launching a free AI trip planner

Visit Orlando (Website) has just unveiled OPAL, a new artificial intelligence-powered trip planner, this week to help travelers customize their Orlando vacations.

OPAL, which stands for Orlando Planning Assistance by Locals, is available 24/7 on VisitOrlando.com at no cost. According to Visit Orlando, the tool is trained by (unnamed) local experts and powered by the AI travel platform Mindtrip (Instagram), combining human-curated knowledge with data from more than 40 sources, including Google Places and TripAdvisor.

The planner works like a conversation with a vacation “expert,” answering questions and providing personalized recommendations for dining, attractions, entertainment, and lodging, based on those prompts. Users can generate custom itineraries based on their interests and needs – just without the personal experiences and biases of a real person who’s lived it or knows if the service staff at a particular (perhaps well-rated restaurant) hates their jobs and takes super long to make drinks.

“This is a natural evolution of how Visit Orlando helps travelers plan their trip,” said Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “Because we are a complex destination, we’re continuously expanding ways we connect people to experiences they value most.”
