Tracy McGrady’s 1-on-1 basketball league brings “Battle of the Cities” to Orlando

The Ones Basketball League (Instagram | Website), founded by Basketball Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady (Instagram), will hold its first competition day on Friday, May 15, at Oak Ridge High School as part of “OBL: Battle of the Cities.”

The league features 32 athletes competing in 1-on-1 basketball games representing eight cities. Each city has four players selected by team owners and general managers who are NBA legends, champions, or celebrities.

Team Orlando is led by Basketball Hall of Famer Vince Carter. Other team owners include Quinn Cook (Washington, DC), Tim Hardaway Sr. (Miami), Jadakiss (New York), Larenz Tate (Chicago), John Wall (Raleigh), Jaylen Brown (Atlanta), and Muggsy Bogues (Baltimore).

The 32 players come from Division I, II, and III basketball, the NBA G League, and overseas leagues. Notable selections include Bryce “Breezy” Moragne on Team Orlando, who was the number one overall pick in the 2023 Slamball draft and currently serves as head boys basketball coach at Spoto High School in Tampa.

Other standout players include James “Byrd” Daniel (Miami), Howard University’s all-time leading scorer with 1,933 points, who holds the number one spot in all-time OBL wins, and Darius “DJO” Johnson Odom (Raleigh), who played seven NBA games for the Lakers and 76ers and competed professionally in 10 countries.

Cities battle for pride with each team sending out one player at a time in 1-on-1 matchups. The competition runs from May 15 through June 30 in Orlando, where McGrady grew up playing 1-on-1 basketball.
