St. Johns Rivership (Website) in Historic Downtown Sanford is hosting a Jane Austen-themed high tea cruise on Tuesday, September 8, timed to coincide with the release of (yet another) new film adaptation of “Sense and Sensibility.”
The event features a two-hour cruise aboard the Barbara-Lee, the company’s historic paddlewheeler, across Lake Monroe and along the St. Johns River. Boarding begins at 11:30 a.m., with the cruise running from noon to 2:00 p.m.
Guests are treated to a classic high tea spread that includes unlimited tea selections, savory finger sandwiches, fresh scones with jelly and bite-sized sweets, served at a reserved table in the ship’s enclosed, climate-controlled dining area (though the best place to sit is on the roof, if you can escape a bit early). A full bar is available for purchase separately. Organizers are encouraging guests to dress in early 19th-century-inspired attire for the occasion.
Tickets are $45 per adult and $20 per child ages 4 to 14, with infants riding free with a boarding pass. Taxes, port fees, and gratuity are not included in the ticket price.
Tickets and more information are available HERE.
