CITY HALL OUTSIDE OF CITY BEAUTIFUL CAFE
The scaffolding that has framed Orlando City Hall’s entrance since roughly August 2024 is finally gone.
The city has completed the facade restoration project on the 1992 postmodern building, which began after a section of marble veneer fell from above the colonnade in late 2024. The total cost of the facade project was approximately $193,600, which includes a vendor cost of $185,300 and a management fee to Owens Realty. The city did not publicly announce a completion date as the project drew to a close, though the removal of the barriers has certainly signaled that the work is finished.
With the barriers now down, sightlines have been restored to our friends at City Beautiful Cafe (Website), an independent vendor that operates out of the bottom floor of City Hall, serving breakfast and lunch (and serves up a decadent Johnny Cali sandwich with basil pesto, avocado spread, bacon, and an Italian chicken cutlet on fresh ciabatta bread). For the past two years they’d been hidden behind a series of bike barricades and warning signs deterring foot traffic.
