Our “Neighborhood Watch” series features photos and tips provided by our readers. If you see something, say something, and send us an email at News@OrlandoShine.com so we can look into it and maybe even write a story like this one.

“Did you see this on socials? It’s crazy. Do you know what happened?”
– JOHN B.

One week ago, @CoasterHolicsAnonymous posted a reel on Instagram showing a fire truck that had seemingly driven through the front door of a fire station. We reached out to the Orlando Fire Department to see what may have caused the incident, but got a pretty PR-friendly response instead.

“The Orlando Fire Department is aware of an accident involving one of our transport units at one of our fire stations, Fire Station 11, which occurred over the weekend. No injuries were reported in this accident. We are investigating the cause and ways to prevent it from recurring in the future. There will be no disruption to service while both the transport unit and the bay door are being repaired.”
– CITY OF ORLANDO FIRE DEPARTMENT

The new Orlando Fire Station 11, nicknamed “The Beast of the East,” is a modern 15,125 SF facility located at 4911 Curry Ford Road [GMap]. It officially opened in May 2024 and replaced the original 1973 station. The new station is equipped to house 30 firefighters and four trucks, and features enhanced technology, individual bunk rooms, and a decontamination room.
