Two separate redevelopment projects at 1230-1246 E. Colonial Drive [GMap] in the Mills50 district are moving through Orlando City Hall, with city documents showing plans for a major facade overhaul of the multi-tenant commercial strip and a new restaurant coming to one of its storefronts.
The larger project involves Headway Corp, the property owner, which has applied for $40,000 through the city’s Small Business Facade, Site Improvement and Adaptive Reuse Program to fund a $187,113 exterior renovation of the strip. The work includes replacing the existing storefront along Colonial Drive, cladding the canopy’s vertical face with multicolor corrugated metal panels, adding an aluminum awning structure for tenant signage, applying stucco to the underside of the canopy, and exterior painting. Headway Corp is contributing $147,113 of its own funds and is getting $40,000 from the city program.
Separately, Nomori, LLC is planning to open a new restaurant in the 1230 E. Colonial Drive [GMap] unit. Nomori applied for $40,000 through the same program to cover upgraded electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and grease trap work required for the restaurant’s change of use. Total eligible project costs for Nomori are $347,582.
Construction is already underway.
