JetBlue has ended its Boston and New York (JFK) routes out of Daytona Beach International Airport, discontinuing service on September 9, less than a year after relaunching flights there in December 2025.
The airline cited simple economics for the exit, saying demand did not develop as anticipated and that the routes’ financial performance had been worsening, and said it needs to redeploy the aircraft that had been serving Daytona Beach to markets with stronger demand
Daytona Beach International Airport said the news was especially disappointing given the strong community support JetBlue received. Airport officials said they reached out directly to the airline to explore alternatives, including reduced flight frequency or preserving the New York route alone, before the full shutdown took effect.
The exit comes as a setback for an airport that has otherwise been on a strong run. Daytona Beach International Airport served more than 772,000 passengers in 2025, its strongest year since 1997, with officials projecting continued growth in 2026. JetBlue’s return to the airport last December had been viewed as a vote of confidence in that momentum, making this reversal notable even as the airport says it will continue pursuing new airline partnerships to fill the gap.
Travelers with existing JetBlue bookings out of Daytona Beach should expect to be rebooked or refunded directly through the airline. Those planning future trips to Boston or New York out of Daytona Beach will need to look at connecting service through Orlando International Airport or another regional airport until a new nonstop option, if any, becomes available.
