Winter Park city commissioners approved a paid parking pilot program that was presented for both Lake Baldwin Park and Dinky Dock Park, according to Clarissa Howard, the city’s communications director, earlier today.
“It was approved as presented for both areas, but implementation is not until spring 2027,” Howard said.
The approval moves forward the plan discussed at Wednesday’s commission meeting, which would end free parking for non-residents at both parks. Winter Park residents will continue to park for free once the program launches, provided they register their vehicles in advance through a new online portal built to verify residency. Non-residents will pay through a cashless system, though the exact fee has not yet been announced.
City officials have estimated the pilot could generate $100,000 or more in new annual revenue, and have framed the program as a way to offset maintenance costs and reduce congestion driven by heavy non-resident traffic at both sites.
