The Greater Orlando Sports Commission (Website), in partnership with Position Sports (Website), the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (Website), Orlando Venues, Orange County, and Visit Orlando, has announced a three-year agreement bringing the college basketball Hall of Fame Series to Orlando through 2028, beginning with an inaugural doubleheader on December 12 at the Kia Center.
The Hall of Fame Series is a collection of high-profile non-conference college basketball events held in premier venues across the U.S. The 2026 event will feature Florida facing Georgia Tech for the first time in nearly four decades, followed by Florida Atlantic University taking on VCU for only the second time since 2003. Teams for the 2027 and 2028 events will be announced later. Tickets for the 2026 doubleheader are on sale now at HOFSeries.com, with one ticket covering admission to both games.
Florida head coach Todd Golden said he was glad to return to downtown Orlando for a matchup with a new ACC opponent. “We’re excited to return to downtown Orlando where Gator Nation has such a strong presence,” Golden said. “The Hall of Fame Series has been a key part of our nonconference schedule several times recently, and it’s always a first-class experience, so we’re glad for the opportunity to compete in the event right here in Florida.”
FAU head coach John Jakus called the invitation an honor, noting the matchup coincides with the Hall of Fame induction of his mentor, Gonzaga coach Mark Few. “VCU is a great program, and this is certainly a special matchup of two programs that have experienced historic Final Four seasons,” Jakus said. “I am excited for the opportunity for our team and our fans, and also personally honored to be playing in this series in the same year one of my mentors and friend, Mark Few, is being enshrined in the Hall of Fame.”
